Zavala takes the life of John Paul II to the cinema

José María Zavala embarks on his third feature film about the figure of St. John Paul II

After the success in Spain, Poland and Latin America with “The mystery of Padre Pio” and “Reborn, Padre Pio changed their lives” José María Zavala returns to the ring, with the help of European Dreams Factory, with “Wotjtyla, the investigation ”A feature film that delves into the past of one of the great saints of recent history.

Zavala’s third project is a thriller-documentary that investigates the figure of the pontiff St. John Paul II, the first Polish pope in history and one of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century and brings the viewer closer to the person behind the blessed. The premiere of the film will be on May 15, a significant date, as it will take place between the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the Polish Pope (May 18, 1920) and the date of the fateful attack (May 13, 1981), will arrive simultaneously to the screens of Spain, Mexico and Poland.

Zavala, journalist and writer (“Padre Pio, the unknown miracles of the saint of stigmata”), is a LA RAZÓN collaborator in addition to having worked for various media such as El Mundo, TVE, Antena 3 and Tele 5. The director has surrounded for this project of renowned figures in the film industry such as Miguel Pérez Gilaberte, director of photography that has the “Velvet” series and is part of the artistic team of Pedro Almodóvar; the editor Pablo Marchetto (“Julia’s decision”) and Paco Pavón, director of expert production in Catholic cinema (“Freedom Network”).

The journalist explored in his previous works the figure of St. Pius of Pietrelcina, to whom he owes his conversion, and in which he collects testimonies of Capuchin religious who lived with the saint and different “reborn” people to whom life changed.
