Yolanda Díaz proposes a check of 300 euros for the people "hardest hit" by inflation

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has made public this Monday the measures that she has proposed within the coalition government to deal with inflation and that United We Can is negotiating with the PSOE within the Executive. The proposals are known barely a day after the collapse of the left –both PSOE and Por Andalucía y Adelante Andalucía– in the Andalusian elections, and are part of the package of initiatives that, in the opinion of the confederal part of the Government, should be added to the extension of the decree that included the measures to deal with the crisis generated by the war in Ukraine and that expires on the 30th of this month.

The first act of 'Sumar', the listening process for Yolanda Díaz, will be on July 8 in Madrid

Díaz, in a Twitter thread, notes that "inflation is hitting families", something that "is noticeable when making purchases or when balancing the accounts at the end of the month." The vice president considers that with the approval of the decree last April "the Government acted with speed and determination" but that those measures that contemplated, among others, the discount of 20% of the cost of fuel to all consumers "now" are not " enough”.

“We must reinforce protection against an international crisis,” says Díaz, who now considers “essential to reinforce the protection of citizens and advance measures that promote the energy transition” In addition to the tax on large electricity companies in which the Government is already working , Díaz proposes, "to reinforce the protection of citizenship", a "cheque of 300 euros for the people most affected by the crisis as has been launched in France". "Given the rise in prices due to inflation, it is time to protect families and their purchasing power," says the second vice president.

Inflation is hitting families. It is noticeable when making the purchase or when balancing the accounts at the end of the month. The Government acted quickly and decisively, but now it is not enough.

We must strengthen protection against an international crisis.

Likewise, "to advance in the ecological transition and sustainable mobility", United We Can bet "on reducing the price of public transport". The Minister of Social Rights and leader of Podemos proposed several weeks ago an aid to communities and municipalities to reduce the price of all transport passes in the country to 10 euros. Díaz, on the other hand, "in the face of the increase in fuel prices", proposes "to reduce the transport subscription by 50%".

“A country that looks to the future”

It also proposes "a mechanism that allows the bonus to be graduated to the price of gasoline and non-professional diesel according to the income level of the beneficiaries", so that the aid now in force is not the same for all citizens and is made based on of his wealth. “All this social and ecological investment cannot be paid by the citizens at this difficult time. The big energy companies must make an extra contribution. We propose to increase the type of companies by 10 points to raise between 1,500 million and 2,000 million euros”, adds Díaz.

In his opinion, "exceptional measures at an exceptional time" have to "help" society to build "a country that looks to the future and recovers hope by advancing day by day." These proposals are known barely two weeks after Díaz launches 'Sumar', the listening process that will start on July 8 in Madrid With which the vice president intends to gradually configure a "country project" that can translate into her candidacy for the next general elections and that she plans to place political parties in the background to give all the protagonism to the citizenry.
