The renewal of Maverick Viñales and the announcement of the signing of Fabio Quartararo for the 2021 and 2022 seasons means that Rossi will not have a place in the official Yamaha team from January 2021. The 2020 season will be Valentino’s last in MotoGP with the Japanese who, looking to the future, have opted not to bet more on the Italian legend.
They have moved token without counting on Rossi, who has a contract until December and his plan was to wait to see what performance he had in the first races to decide whether or not to prolong his sports life. Yamaha has separated him from his star formation since 2021, but at least he leaves the possibility that, if he wants to remain active, he can do it with an official M1 in the Petronas team, in which Fabio Quartararo has now emerged.
Yamaha’s future is called Viñales and Quartararo, which will try to unseat Marc Márquez. For his part, Valentino will have to say if he signs a new contract or his story ends on December 31, 2020.
