Xavi Hernández raised, with Al Sadd, his first league in Qatar, since he arrived in the emirate in 2015, giving his team his fourteenth league title. Xavi gave an assist in the second goal of his team, scored by Qatari Hassan Al Haydos, in the victory of his team by 7-2 against Al Ahli, the country's most decorated team and led by Spanish Ruben de la Barrera. At the beginning of the second half, the stadium with 4,603 spectators cheered Xavi, captain and star of the team, who was replaced in the 57th minute by Ali Asdalla. The victory led Al Sadd to 54 points, which is unattainable for second-placed Al Duhail, who has 47 points on the penultimate day of the league.
Xavi, 39, added his fourth title on Qatari soil after the Emir Cup, the Qatar Cup and the Sheikh Jassim Cup. The former Barça player finishes his contract with the Qatari team this season, adds 34 titles in his career and most likely he will retire from football.
The former Atlético de Madrid player, Gabi, who signed this year for the club, also wins the league.
