Winner of stage 3 of the 2020 Giro d’Italia: Jonathan Caicedo

The cyclist Jonathan Caicedo (EF) has won this Monday the third stage of the Italy spin, disputed between Enna and Etna over 150 kilometers, being the strongest of a breakout and approaching a ‘pink jersey’ that will Joao almeida (Deceuninck), in an unfortunate day for several candidates for the final victory.

Caicedo prevailed at the top of the volcano, after leaving behind Giovanni visconti (Vini Zabù) and the rest of his colleagues from a fugue formed almost at the start of the stage, on a day in which Candidates for the ‘pink jersey’ yielded such as Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) or Geraint Thomas (Ineos).

The latter, harmed by a fall that leaves him out of the pools, had the help of his teammate Filippo Ganna, who lost the ‘pink jersey’ that he had worn since he won the initial time in favor of Portuguese Joao Almeida (Deceuninck-Quick Step).
