A total of 44 Spanish provinces, all except those of the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Zaragoza and Teruel, will have this Friday warnings for wind, coastal phenomena, rain or snow, As reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) that has activated the red warning (extreme risk) by strong waves in Pontevedra and La Coruña, where waves of 9 meters high can be registered.
In addition, they will have significant risk (orange warning) Lugo, Asturias, Cantabria, Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Murcia, Almeria, Granada, Malaga. For this same phenomenon, the coastal provinces of Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, Ceuta, Melilla, Cádiz and Huelva will be at risk (yellow warning).
They will also keep active the orange warning for winds, which can reach 100 kilometers per hour in Pontevedra, La Coruña, Lugo and Almería, and the warning of risk (yellow) the provinces of Orense, the rest of the provinces of Andalusia, all of Castilla y León, Asturias, Cantabria, La Rioja, Álava, Navarra, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Extremadura, Ceuta, Melilla, Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
On the other hand, the rains will affect much of the country, but Cádiz, Jaén and Málaga will have yellow warning since they will be able to accumulate up to 40 liters per square meter in 12 hours.
The snowfall will motivate the warning due to significant risk in Lugo, Orense, León, Zamora and Asturias, where between 20 and 30 centimeters of snow can accumulate. The warning will be yellow for snowfalls in Burgos, Palencia, Soria, Segovia, Ávila, Salamanca, Cáceres, Granada, Jaén, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Huesca and La Rioja.
This Friday the Aemet expects locally strong or persistent rainfall in Andalusia and in the area of the Strait and strong or very strong winds in mountain areas and on the coast. The snowfall will affect the mountainous areas of the north and east of the Peninsula.
The day will be cloudy or covered with rain and showers that will be almost generalized and may be locally strong, persistent and with occasional storm in Andalusia and the Strait area, especially during the first half of the day.
They will also be locally intense and hail in the surroundings of Galicia, in the Bay of Biscay and in the south of the Pyrenees. In general, they will subside during the day but will be somewhat more persistent in the vicinity of mountainous areas.
There will be a low probability of precipitation in the Ebro valley, in the surroundings of the Valencian Community, in Murcia and in the south of the Canary Islands.
Snowfall will occur from 900 to 1,100 meters and will drop to 500 or 700 meters in the northwest third of the peninsula; from 1,000 to 1,200 meters in the center and in the northwest that will go down to about 600 to 900 meters and up to 800 to 1,000 meters in the southeast.
Regarding temperatures, the AEMET has predicted that they will rise in the Canary Islands, Melilla and in the east of Gerona and that, on the contrary, they will descend in the rest, although the descent will be more pronounced in the northwest of the Peninsula. Frost will affect the mountain areas and the most intense will occur in the Pyrenees.
Finally, the winds will blow from the west and the southwest and will roll to the northwest strong or very strong, especially in mountain and coastal areas. In the Canaries the wind will be from the north or the northeast and will generally have a loose character.
