While Talleres remains the leader alone, River rises to second place in soccer in Argentina
Buenos Aires, Sep 19 (EFE) .- Talleres de Córdoba, which beat Racing Club 2-1 away on Saturday, remained the only leader of the Argentine League, awaiting the presentation of this Monday by Lanús against Newell's Old Boys, who could reach the same score if he achieves a win.
Talleres de Córdoba, which rehearses one of the best tournament starts in its history, is excited about contesting the title after its triumph over the hour against the 'Academy'.
River Plate, meanwhile, rose to second place with 24 points -two from Talleres- after their hard and tight 1-0 win against bottom Arsenal de Sarandí.
Boca Juniors also added a victory on Saturday away against Atlético Tucumán (2-1) and Independiente won, also away from home, against Huracán (1-0) so as not to lose track of the leaders.
WORKSHOPS DOESN'T LOOSEN AND REMAINS ON THE TOP
Talleres de Córdoba continues his march in this tournament and on this twelfth date he beat Racing Club at home by 1-2 to stay at the top of the standings.
With 26 points, and waiting for the result of this Monday between Lanús and Newell's Old Boys, the Cordobans guaranteed another week at the top of the standings.
Uruguayan Michael Santos and Enzo Díaz scored the goals of the winning team, while Lisandro López, from a penalty, scored the goal of the 'Academy', which was in seventh position with 18 points along with Boca Juniors.
RIVER WINS AGAIN WITH THE FAIR AND IS THE ONLY ESCORT
River Plate won just 1-0 against bottom Arsenal de Sarandí with an own goal by Emiliano Méndez, which allowed the 'Millonario' to total 24 points and be the only guard in the tournament.
As against Sarmiento de Junín and Newell's Old Boys, the team led by Marcelo Gallardo did not have its best production but was left with a victory that fuels their illusion of winning the title.
Without international competition and eliminated from the Argentine Cup, River bets this semester to win a local title that is the only pending account of the successful Gallardo era at the club.
BOCA SUFFERED BUT RETURNED FROM TUCUMÁN WITH VICTORY
Boca Juniors continues at a good pace since Sebastián Battaglia took over as coach and this Saturday he won 1-2 against Atlético Tucumán as a visitor to break a 45-year winless streak in the northern capital.
Lisandro López and the youthful Rodrigo Montes scored the winning goals, while López himself, against his fence, scored the only goal for the local team.
With a series of four wins and a draw, Battaglia managed to improve considerably a campaign that had started very badly for Boca and led to the dismissal of Miguel Ángel Russo as coach.
INDEPENDENT DOES NOT RESIGNATE AND DREAMS BASED ON TRIUMPHS
Independiente won again and is not resigned. With a solitary goal from Alan So Señora, the 'Rojo' won 0-1 against Huracán and totals 22 points to be expectant to four of the leader Talleres.
Julio César Falcioni's team lacks great references in its squad but, based on tactical order and strategic discipline, it achieved six victories, four draws and just two defeats at the start of this tournament.
For Huracán this defeat means continuing in the last positions since with only 13 units it is located in the sixteenth position shared with San Lorenzo, which this Monday will seek to take off in its duel with Rosario Central as a visitor.
STUDENTS ALSO WANT TO BE IN THE DISCUSSION
Estudiantes de La Plata adds 23 units after their victory this Sunday by 1-2 against Patronato in Paraná and also intends to enter the dispute for the local title of this Argentine League.
Facundo Apaolaza, from a penalty, and Gustavo Del Prete allowed him with their goals to reverse an initial disadvantage after the goal of Uruguayan Sebastián Sosa for the local.
