Which communities have implemented the COVID passport and what is it needed for?
Galicia, Aragon, Balearic Islands, Murcia, Catalonia and Navarra already have the endorsement of their higher courts of Justice to impose the COVID passport in their territories and to be able to access certain spaces in the face of the upturn in cases that is occurring nationwide. Others, as is the case of the Valencian Community, among others, have already requested its endorsement from the Justice and are awaiting the decision.

Communities in which it is current:
- Since this Friday, November 26, Catalonia has expanded the use of the COVID certificate - until now in force in nightlife - in the restoration (except terraces), gyms and nursing homes. It also extends to cinemas, theaters, auditoriums and commercial galleries, among others, although only in the event that there is dance or catering activity inside the venues.
- In Navarra, the Justice has authorized its use to access restaurants with more than 60 diners, establishments with a disco license or party rooms, and mass events of a cultural nature in indoor spaces with the consumption of food or drink for more than 1,000 people. The COVID passport will take effect from this Saturday, November 27, until January 7.
- In Aragon it is mandatory to present it in nightlife establishments (party rooms, dance halls); celebrations of all kinds that may take place in hotel and restaurant establishments and mass events (bringing together more than 500 attendees indoors or 1,000 attendees in open spaces).
- Galicia requires the COVID passport in night establishments, in pilgrim hostels and for companions visiting a patient admitted to a hospital. On the other hand, the Xunta trusts to have the endorsement of Justice to request the COVID certificate in the hospitality industry from next week. The proposal that comes from the Department of Health is to require a passport throughout the day in the case of restaurants and from 9:00 pm at night in bars and cafes.
- In Murcia, the Higher Court of Justice of the Region of Murcia endorsed the extension of requiring a COVID certificate for customers of premises that reach 100% capacity. It will be in force until next December 17.
- Balearics. The Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands authorized the Government in October to require the COVID certificate in order to access the nightlife venues on the islands and for nursing homes. At the moment it is valid until December 8.
Communities that are pending the decision of the Justice
- The Valencian Community has asked the Superior Court of Justice of the Community for the endorsement for its implementation from December 3 and for 30 days. It will be mandatory to present the document in hotel establishments with a capacity of more than 50 people, in entertainment venues (discos, nightclubs, pubs), in recreational venues with hospitality services such as bingo halls or casinos, and in hospitals and residences for visits. .
- As previously mentioned, Galicia already has the COVID passport in place for certain activities, but requests the endorsement of the Justice to extend it throughout the day in the case of restaurants and from 9:00 p.m. at night in bars and cafes .
- The Government of the Canary Islands will send a proposal for judicial ratification by which the certificate can be requested in all spaces of public use whose managers, voluntarily, require it from both workers and users. If the order is ratified by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, these spaces for public use may function with the capacity and schedule limitations of the level immediately below that of the island. This tool is intended to be used until January 15.
- Euskadi is a different case. The initial resolution of the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country has appealed to the Supreme Court that prevented the implementation of the COVID passport in leisure and catering.
