WhatsApp works to expand group calls to eight people - La Provincia

Last week, the specialized portal WABetaInfo discovered references to group calls with more than four participants in the application code.

Now, since this Tuesday,the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for devices with iOS and Android systems allow access to up to eight participants, including the user himself, according to the aforementioned portal.

This feature is not currently in the stable version of WhatsApp, but it is operational for users of beta 2.20.50.25 for iOS in Testflight and beta 2.20.133 for Android in Google Play.

As the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo show, WhatsApp reports that they can only access these group calls, both in the form of voice calls and video calls,users who have updated and compatible versions of the app.

Group calls with up to eight participants are started in the same way as the current ones, from the WhatsApp calls tab, pressing the call button, choosing 'Group call' and selecting up to seven more contacts.
