Whatsapp has announced that as of 2020 users with certain mobile devices and certain versions of operating systemsthey will not be able to create new accountsor recheck existing accounts.
Specifically, the messaging application will only be compatible with Android devices with operating system 4.0.3 or later,iPhone with iOS 9or later and some models with KaiOs 2.5.1 operating system, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
WhatsApp has detailed in a statement that Android devices withoperating system 2.3.7 or earlierthey will be compatible until February 1, 2020, as well as iPhone with iOS 8 or earlier.
As for users with devices with Windows Phone operating system, they will stop using the messaging service as of December 31, 2019. In addition, the company has stressed that it is possible that devices withWindows PhoneDo not have the application in Microsoft Store since July 1, 2019.
WhatsApp has also warned that "because we are no longer developing the application for these operating systems, some of the functions may stop working at any time."
