Westfriesland Sew neerlands, Rocasa’s first rival in Europe – La Provincia

The Round 2 draw of the new EHF European Cup has matched the Rocasa Gran Canaria with Westfriesland Sew of the Netherlands. The first leg of the tie will be played the next day October 10 or 11; while the return will be played a week later.

The Dutch team finished fifth in the women’s Eredivise last season after playing 18 games in which they achieved a balance of 7 wins, 1 draw and 10 losses, with an exercise of 453 goals for and 521 against.

Westfriesland Sew is not a minor team, because in their showcases they have five leagues national (the last one achieved in the 2003-04 academic year), six Cups and two Super Cups.

For Yubal Moreno, manager of Rocasa, the fact that the Paises Bajes team has played them is an economic advantage for the Teldense club by “having a close trip” and thus having avoided distant transfers if they had not fallen into Group 1, “which avoids countries like Turkey, Ukraine or Macedonia “.

For his part, Carlos Herrera, coach of the Remudas team, added that Westfriesland Sew “has a young team that moves the ball very well, they play with a lot of rhythm in attack, who run a lot and have a very dynamic 5-1 defense“.

Other pairings

As for the Spanish representation and also rivals of Rocasa in the EHF European Cup, the Rincón Fertilà Málaga was matched against the Norwegian Valur; and the KH-7 BM. Granollers will face off against Alavarium Love Tiles from Portugal.
