The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont has launched on Saturday the political movement Crida Nacional per la República as an instrument at the service of the independence unit and to specify "the free and republican Catalonia" that the Parlament proclaimed on October 27, 2017, just one year.
At an event in the Nou Congost pavilion in Manresa, he claimed the first anniversary of that proclamation of the Parliament and called for the political mobilization of the Catalans to achieve independence: "We have not surrendered nor will we surrender".
Puigdemont, who will be the leader of the Crida as 'founding president', has said that in Catalonia there is "energy and critical mass" to crystallize the independence that a year ago did not materialize, and has put the National Crida at the service of this objective.
The former president of the Generalitat, who has participated by videoconference, has explained that the Crida seeks to "add and unite" all supporters of independence under one umbrella, since it considers that it is the only viable way to achieve the republic.
He has ensured that the Crida will automatically dissolve on the day that Catalonia eventually becomes an independent country and has concluded: "We do not want to perpetuate ourselves, we want to have reasons for a rapid dissolution, we must be the first political force that is born to be able to disappear" .
Puigdemont has also charged against the State and against the King for not recognizing the right of self-determination of Catalonia and has warned that this rejection will not stop him: "We said that we would make a better country and we will make a better country. "
QUIM TORRA AGAINST SÁNCHEZ
Another of the promoters of the movement is the current president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, who has asked the attendees to the founding act of the Crida to continue mobilized in defense of the sovereignty process: "Do not stop squeezing us, squeeze, squeeze."
He has taken advantage of this scenario to charge against the President of the Government because, in his opinion, he does not make gestures towards Catalonia: "Mr. Sánchez, no, therefore, the political credit of President Sánchez has ended, we will never renounce political dialogue, but Sanchez's credit is over. ERC, PSC, CUP AND COMUNS
Together with Puigdemont and Torra, the third promoter of the Crida is the former president of the ANC currently in jail, Jordi Sànchez, who through a letter has claimed the unity of the independence movement and lamented that "distrust and partisan rivalry" they have weakened the sovereign project at times.
Sánchez has argued that the Crida is an instrument at the service of a better Catalonia to which other parties like ERC, the comuns, the PDeCAT, the CUP, the PSC or people of any other party are invited to participate since they will not ask for "resignations to nobody".

The main immediate question is how the PDeCAT, the still party of Puigdemont, will adapt to the existence of the Crida; This Saturday, the leader of PDeCAT, David Bonvehí, has not attended the founding convention.
