Volkswagen today launched OT – Cross, the first SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) produced by the brand in Brazil, a model for which has invested 2,000 million reals (about 540 million dollars) and has been adapted for the profile of the South American client.
This adaptation responds to the strategy of "regionalization" that the brand intends to carry out, according to the president of Volkswagen in Latin America, Pablo Di Si, during the presentation of this model at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, which will open its doors from 8 to 18 November.
This plan consists of offering a global product, but with specific characteristics depending on the people to whom it is addressed, which in this case results in a design of the car higher than the European and that will be manufactured in the municipality of Sao Jose dos Pinhais, in the state of Paraná.
Di also highlighted during his presentation the novelties that make the OT – Cross a smart car, as its fully digital panel and its "driver profile selector", which allows to select between four types and thus "completely change the user experience ", according to the president of the brand.
Volkswagen has also introduced during its presentation at the car show its new line of electric vehicles, which according to the CEO has been expected to be produced by 2025 at a rate of one million per year.
The zero emission crossover I.D. CROZZ presented today by the brand will be one of these models that, from its launch in 2020, will boost the German brand's goal of moving from segmented production of electric cars to high-scale production for the next decade.
