The German car group Volkswagen announced Monday that it will interrupt production in some of its factories in China, its largest single market, until February 24 due to the coronavirus.
Volkswagen said there are problems in the supply chain and logistics and that many of its production employees cannot travel around the country.
Therefore, Volkswagen interrupts the production in the factories of the joint venture companies that it has with Shanghai Automotive (SAIC) on February 24 and does not start it today as it had communicated before.
The factories of its joint venture with First Automotive Works (FAW) have partially restarted production and the next few days will all be operational.
If it had not spread the coronavirus, Volkswagen would have started production on February 3 after the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
