The Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull) further strengthened his leadership in the Formula One World Cup by winning this Sunday the Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth of the year, at the Spielberg circuit, where the sevenfold English world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who seconded him in the contest, did not pass the fourth place, in front of the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).

Verstappen achieved his fifth victory of the year, the third in a row, by winning at the Red Bull Ring, his team’s circuit, ahead of the Finn Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), second this Sunday; and from english Lando Norris (McLaren), who finished third.

Sainz, who completed another great race, took advantage of the two penalties, of five seconds each, that the Mexican suffered Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), who for that reason invested places with the Spanish and finished sixth in a race than the other Spanish, the double Asturian world champion Fernando Alonso (Alpine) finished tenth, adding an almost unexpected point.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) was seventh, ahead of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, Sainz’s teammate at Ferrari; and Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) was ninth, just ahead of Alonso.
