Verstappen wins the 70th Anniversary GP ahead of Hamilton and Bottas – La Provincia

Dutch Max verstappen (Red bull) he won 70th Anniversary Grand Prize of Formula One in Silverstone (UK) with a grand tire strategy that gave him his first win of the year ahead of the British Mercedes Lewis Hamilton and the finnish Valtteri Bottas.

Verstappen broke the hegemony of Mercedes and added the ninth victory of his career thanks to his wise decision to finish Saturday’s qualifying on a hard tire, which allowed him to have a greater resistance of its wheels during the race this Sunday with respect to the two Mercedes, who wore medium compound tires.

World Championship leader Hamilton took second after changing tires with 10 laps to go and overtaking Monegasque Charles Leclerc in the last five ( Ferrari), who finished fourth, and his partner Bottas. The Briton has 107 points, 30 more than Verstappen, who places second in the World Cup.

The first ten places that give access to the points were completed by the Thai Alexander Albon (Red Bull), the Canadian Lance Stroll ( Racing Point) and his German partner Nico Hülkenberg, the French Esteban Ocon ( Renault) Briton Lando Norris ( McLaren) and the Russian Daniil Kvyat (Alpha Tauri).

The four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), who starred in a bad start with which he went from eleventh to last place, he finished twelfth, just ahead of the Spanish Carlos Sainz (McLaren), harmed by a mistake by his team at his first stop, which caused him to lose several positions.
