The Spanish cycling coach, Pascual Momparler, announced this Monday the shortlist for the Imola World Cup 2020, which will be held from September 24 to 27, with Alejandro Valverde, Mikel Landa or Enric Mas at the helm.
At the World Cup, which will take place in the Italian city of Imola and the Emilia Romagna region, Spain will seek to repeat the title that Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) achieved in 2018, in a route that will pass through the speed circuit and that would have two levels of hard ramps.
A scenario, in the absence of being confirmed by the UCI, that would give prominence to the classicists and powerful climbers, and that would be to the detriment of the pure sprinters, with which Spain would have a suitable profile for the appointment.
For now, in the absence of knowing the definitive list of those selected for the road event and for the individual time trial, Momparler has provided a shortlist of seventeen cyclists.
The list is as follows: Alejandro Valverde, Enric Mas, Marc Soler, Imanol Erviti and Héctor Carretero (Movistar Team); Gorka Izagirre, Luis León Sánchez, Omar Fraile, Álex Aranburu and Óscar Rodríguez (Astana); Mikel Landa and Pello Bilbao (Bahrain-Mclaren); Jesús Herrada (Cofidis); Mikel Snow (Mitchelton-Scott); David de la Cruz (UAE); Víctor de la Parte (CCC) and Jonathan Castroviejo (Ineos-Grenadiers).
