Valido celebrates the increasing incorporation of people to the Canary Islands Dependency System - La Provincia


The Counselor for Employment, Social Policies and Housing of the canary executive this morning, in the framework of the second edition of the Congress on the Attention to the Dependency in the Canary Islands, the increasing incorporation of the number of people to the system of dependency of the Archipelago. The meeting, which is titled, Rendering accounts, will last until this afternoon in the Elder Museum of Science and Technology and will also act as a meeting point to exchange opinions and generate a debate between councilors and councilors from different provinces and municipalities.

"In the last three years we have incorporated as many people into the system as we did ten years ago, we can say that we have managed to improve on all the indicators, but there is still a lot to be done, I trust that with the approval of the law of Social Services and funds that this supposes, it manages to introduce us in the average of investment of the State ", said Valido.

Following this line, the counselor said that, currently, more than 20,000 people are being treated and receiving benefits. "Our goal is that before the end of the year there are many more, but one thing to keep in mind are the people who die and leave the system, since it makes it appear that the incorporations are minor."

To date, a total of 30,291 people have recognized the right to Dependence. Of this figure, 20,578 already receive economic and service benefits, while 9,713 continue to wait for their Individual Care Plan (PIA).

As regards the registrations registered in the system, until August 2018, 557 more people were incorporated than in the same period of 2016, and 576 more than in 2017. "This figure is very significant and highlights the intense work that The staff of the Ministry is working on caring for dependents in the Canary Islands. "
