The eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt has tested positive for coronavirus after celebrating a party last Saturday on the occasion of his 34th birthday, as revealed by the Minister of Health of Jamaica, Christopher Tufton.
Bolt, who had been in quarantine since the test was performed, had had no symptoms of the disease. However, the videos of the party -spread on social networks- invited to think that there could be infections by the absence of masks and social distance.
He world record holder in the 100 and 200 meters organized a large party attended by, among others, the Manchester City footballer Raheem Sterling, and Bayern Leverkusen player Leon Bailey.
Police are still investigating whether there was any crime at the party, Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness said. Jamaica has had 1,612 coronavirus infections and 16 related deaths, according to official figures.
