Uribes believes that the robberies at the National Library are "events of the past"

Jaén, May 7 (EFE) .- The Minister of Culture and Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, today described the news of the disappearance of at least five works by Galileo Galilei from the National Library (BNE) as "events of the past" and it puts in value the recommendations of the Ministry to the entity so that it does not happen again.

The minister has thus referred to questions from journalists to the report prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in which it is assured that four more works by Galileo Galilei of the BNE have disappeared, which are linked to the theft of the astronomical treatise "Sidereus nuncius "made public less than two months ago.

Some disappearances that from the BNE point out that there may be up to nine, based on the works that have disappeared since 1987.

The minister insisted that "we are talking about events from the past, everything that is being said today in the press has to do with disappearances from years ago, at least from 2014, if not further back."

And he adds that "what has been known is that, as a result of a report promoted by this Minister of Culture, it has been known that there have indeed been other disappearances in addition to Galileo, and what is done is to recommend".

"Make a series of instructions, recommendations, to the National Library, so that the steps are taken and there are a series of protocols that speed up communication when events of this nature occur, so that they can also be made known to the Police" , "but they are all facts of the past."
