The union organizations ask for the resignation of the Catalan Minister of Education

Unequal follow-up on the first day of strike called by the unions in the education sector against the policies of the Catalan Government. The union organizations have estimated the registered unemployment this Tuesday between 60% and 75%, while the Ministry of Education has lowered the impact of the strike to 31% in the case of public education and 8% in what regards the concerted

The education unions have called a six-day strike in the education sector, to protest against the latest decisions of the Catalan Minister of Education, Josep González Cambray, whom they demand to sit down to negotiate and also to "resign". The stoppages will continue on March 16, 17, 23, 29 and 30. The unions cry out against the Government's decision to advance the start of the school year by one week from this coming September. They denounce that the Government made the decision unilaterally, without the consensus of the educational community. They also claim to recover the templates prior to the cuts of the past decade and to increase investment in the education sector.

The five days of strike in education are added to the strike that had already been called for the 23rd to pressure the Government not to execute the TSJC ruling that requires it to teach 25% of classes in Spanish. The education sector is on a war footing against the autonomous Executive, which faces the first strike of the legislature this March. The pressure from the street has reached the Government before for social issues than in what refers to the sovereignist roadmap. In this sense, the nationalist platforms are very demobilized.
