Unemployment in Colombia drops to 8.8% in November



The unemployment rate in Colombia stood at 8.8% last November, which represents a reduction of 0.3 percentage points with respect to the previous month and an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same month last year , official sources reported today

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) detailed in a statement that last month more than 22.46 million people were employed, while 2.15 million were unemployed and 14.42 million were inactive.

In November of last year, more than 22.87 million people were employed, while 2.09 million were unemployed and 13.58 million were inactive.

By cities, Quibdó has the highest unemployment rate with 17.6%, followed by Cúcuta (15.8%) and Ibagué (15.2%), while Pasto has the lowest rate with 7.4%, followed by by Pereira (8.1%) and Bucaramanga (8.2%).
