Thenumber of registered unemployedin the offices of the public employment services (former Inem) went down in210,484unemployed in 2018 (-6.17%),sixth consecutive annual decline, although the least pronounced since 2013, reported Thursday the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security.
The total number of unemployed reached the end of last year the figure of3,202,297 unemployed, remaining at its lowest level in the last nine years, after registering in the last month of 2018 a monthly decrease of 50,570 unemployed (-1.5%), its lowest decline in one month of December since 2012.
The drop in unemployment in 2018 is the sixth consecutive after the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 when unemployment fell by 147,000, 253,000, 354,203, 390,534 and 290,193 people, and contrasts with the increases experienced in the period 2007-2012 .
Specific,in 2012, 2011 and 2010 unemployment increasedin 426,364, 322,286 and 176,470 people, respectively, while in 2007, 2008 and 2009 the lists of public employment offices totaled 106,674, 999,416 and 794,640 more unemployed.
Regarding hiring, en 2018 almost 22.3 million contracts were made, of which 2,284,924 were indefinite contracts, 10.2% of the total and the highest figure in the historical series, with an increase of 18.4% compared to 2017.
