UGT adds the surname ‘workers’ to the name without changing its centennial acronym

The 43rd UGT confederal congress that is being held in Valencia this morning approved adding the last name ‘workers’ to the name of the General Union of Workers, but keeping the initials of this centenary union. The official name from today will be that of General Union of Workers and Workers.

The proposal, presented by FICA, the federation of industry, construction and agriculture, the most important of the union, has been approved unanimously among the 786 delegates present of the 800 summoned.

The idea, which emerged a little over two months ago at the FICA UGT congress, had divided the members and supporters of this union, especially due to the possibility of adding another ‘T’ to the acronym of UGT with which this organization was born 133 years ago.
