Two British died last night in the taxi in which they were traveling in Mallorca because of heavy rains, which have caused at least eight deaths and several missing, according to media reported today in the United Kingdom.
The British Foreign Ministry indicated today that it "urgently seeks" information from the authorities of the island, although it does not confirm yet the possible death of two Britons.
Apparently, the two – whose identities are unknown at the moment – traveled last night in a taxi when the strong current of water caused by the overflow of a river trapped the vehicle in the town of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar.
British media say that emergency services have confirmed that at least eight people have died from the storms.
"We are in contact with the Spanish authorities about the floods in Mallorca and we are urgently looking for an update (of the situation) with them," said a brief note from the Foreign Office in London. EFE
