Twitter has highlighted that “since the introduction of the guide on COVID-19, more than 8,400 tweets have been deleted and petitions have been filed against 11.5 million accounts worldwide, “while it has revealed that it will implement a warning system to warn users before the deletion of their account.

“We believe that the ‘strike’ system will help educate the public about our policies and will further reduce the spread of potentially harmful and misleading information on Twitter, particularly for repeated violations of moderate and high severity, “he explained through a statement posted on his blog.

In this way, the social network has detailed that “the labels will be applied by team members when they decide that the content violates the policies”, before adding that “will start with the content in English”, although later it will be expanded to “other languages ​​and cultural contexts”.

Twitter has also revealed that a ‘strike’ will have no consequences at the account level, although a second will imply a twelve hour lockout, which will also happen with a third. In case of a fourth warning, the account will be blocked for seven days, while permanently suspended if there are five or more ‘strikes’.
