Donald Trump wants the Balearic tennis player to attend the state dinner offered by the US government in honor of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia
The Kings of Spain have been invited to the White House, on April 21, where a State dinner will be held in his honor. However, US President Donald Trump seems to not only want the presence of the monarchs, but also would have requested the presence of Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal. It is very normal that personalities from the world of sport and culture come to these dinners.
“Nadal is a great treasure of Spain,” Trump said in September 2017, in a meeting with Mariano Rajoy, making clear his weakness for the Balearic Islands.
This will be the second visit of Felipe VI and Letizia Ortiz, but the first with the category of ‘State’.
Donald Trump’s dreams seem distant, since the tight schedule of the tennis player seems to truncate any possibility that Nadal had to attend the White House. The Monte Carlo Masters final is set for April 19, two days before dinner, and, if that wasn’t enough, a few days after that hypothetical final, Nadal plans to participate in the Conde Godó trophy.
