Torra asks the Supreme Court for precautionary measures and refuses to comply with the JEC order

The president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, will present on Wednesday a request for precautionary measures before the Supreme Court against the Central Electoral Board (JEC) for the disqualification order that the Government “will not abide by,” said the spokeswoman for the executive Catalan, Meritxell Budó.

In the press conference after the meeting of the Catalan executive, Budó has advanced that Torra will present this Wednesday a request for precautionary measures before the Supreme Court against the order of the JEC that demanded that he be suspended as a deputy of the Parliament, indispensable requirement to be elected as president.

Awaiting the outcome of this new judicial process, Budó has made it clear that the Government “will not comply” with the decision of the JEC: “The Government will not accept that Torra is disabled as president or as a deputy for the JEC,” he stressed.
