Three people have died, including a 2-year-old child, and three others have suffered injuries of varying severity when two cars hit the AP-7 motorway in the municipality of El Campello (Alicante), according to Traffic and Center sources of Information and Coordination of Emergencies (CICU).
The accident occurred after 3:00 pm at kilometer 674, 200 of the aforementioned road when, due to circumstances not specified, both vehicles collided.
As a result of the impact, a 2-year-old boy has died, who has undergone cardiopulmonary resuscitation but has not responded, a man of 25 years and a third person who is unidentified, according to the CICU, who has indicated that there are also three wounded people of different consideration.
Two of them have suffered polytraumatisms and have been transferred to the General Hospital of Alicante, one of them with a fire helicopter and the other by a SAMU. The third injured person with multiple trauma has been taken to the Hospital de San Juan with a SAMU.
The same sources have indicated that the people affected by the accident were undocumented, which is making it difficult to identify them.
The accident has forced to completely cut the highway towards Alicante and at 18:00 hours it still remains closed to traffic.
Sources of the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) have informed that after receiving the notice, they have mobilized three SAMUs and a Basic Life Support (SVB) to the site.
Also a medicalized helicopter of the Generalitat and five endowments of the Provincial Fire Brigade of Alicante have been transferred to the place of the accident.
