Three people have died and two remain missing due to the wreck of a fishing boat, which occurred today on the south coast of South Korea, local authorities reported.
The fishing boat, weighing almost 10 tons and with 14 people on board, made water 80 kilometers from the island of Yokji Island (about 330 kilometers south of Seoul) around 5.00 local time (8.00 GMT on Thursday), according to sources of the South Korean Coast Guard cited by the Yonhap news agency.
Two of the rescued sailors were found dead and a third, found unconscious, was sent to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after.
Another of the rescued crew members remains unconscious, although alive, while the rescue operatives continue to search for the two fishermen who are still missing, Yonhap added.
The causes of the shipwreck are unknown, but it is believed that it could have been due to a collision with another ship.
