This is Khadjou Sambe, the surfer who challenges gender roles in Senegal – La Provincia

Khadjou Sambe dreamed of becoming a surfer since she was a child, but in Senegal, her native country, she had no reference. At 14 she was the first woman to get on a surfboard in Dakar, and at 24 she has already become an icon for black women who want to dedicate themselves to this sport. Sambe was going to represent his country in the 2020 Olympics, canceled by the pandemic. Now she trains girls in summer camps who dream, like her, of surfing professionally.
