They transfer to Motril 36 people rescued from a boat with navigation problems



Members of Maritime Rescue and Maritime Service of the Civil Guard have rescued and transferred to the Port of Motril (Granada) tonight 36 people of Maghrebi origin, including a woman, who were in a boat that had navigation problems when having punctured one of the sides.

The boat was located about 30 miles south of Motril by a merchant ship and later, sighted by the helicopter Helimer 207, with Salvamar Hamal being the one who proceeded to the rescue at one o'clock in the morning today.

According to the Red Cross, which attended the rescued as soon as they arrived at the Motrilian dock after 3:00 am, the migrants are in good health although some of them had symptoms of mild hypothermia as a result of the cold and of the storm that they had to endure during the journey.

The thirty-three people have been placed at the disposal of the National Police in the temporary care center available in the port dock.
