In an interview with Cadena Ser, the General Director of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, Juan José Alemán, has acknowledged that the Government of the Canary Islands is aware of the seven probable cases of listeriosis in the Canary Islands.

The origin of the poisoning was not due to products purchased on the islands, but to some chicharrones of the brand Mechá that was bought in Andalucia and that the family brought to the islands on August 10.

Those affected showed symptoms of intoxication, although they recovered from these problems after 24 hours without requiring medical intervention.
