New York Police rescued an individual Friday who had climbed to the top of the well-known Brooklyn Bridge and threatened to jump to kill himself.
Authorities cut traffic on this large artery connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn and launched a major operation to try to save the man, details of which have not been provided.
In photos released by the New York Police Department (NYPD) through social networks, the individual can be seen at the top of the bridge, along with one of the United States flags that crown him, surrounded by several agents trying to talk to him.
Police air and sea teams also participated in the operation, according to the NYPD.
According to several local media, the police managed to rescue him safely after almost three hours of work and were planning to transfer him to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
