Former soccer player Diego Armando Maradona was submitted this Saturday to a scheduled surgical intervention in a clinic in Buenos Aires due to stomach bleeding, confirmed the lawyer of the Argentine former soccer player, Matías Morla.
"Diego Maradona finished the surgery, thank God everything went perfect", indicated Morla in his Twitter account.
Maradona, 58, was diagnosed with a health problem in early January during routine exams performed at the same hospital in the town of Olivos, when he was preparing to travel to Mexico to head Dorados de Sinaloa.
"It is a bleeding due to a hernia, it is not complicated at all," the same source told Reuters. "With this he hopes to solve some annoyances that he usually has"he added.
Maradona expects to receive medical discharge in the coming days and travel to Mexico to join Dorados, who started the championship with field assistant José María Martínez leading the team.
"Now we are waiting for the recovery so that Diego can return to work as soon as possible," added Morla.
