Firefighters are looking for two people who appear to be missing after the fall of a hillside that has cut the AP8 (Bilbao-San Sebastián) highway in both directions at Zaldibar (Bizkaia) this afternoon, according to fire sources and of the Basque Security Department.
The detachment, of great dimensions, has occurred around four in the afternoon and has caused the closure of the road, which is also expected to take time to open.
It has not directly affected any vehicle in circulation, although firefighters are looking for two people, apparently workers from a nearby dump, who would be missing, as sources of firefighters and the Basque Department of Security have told Efe.
Ertzaintza sources have indicated that the area is being inspected, including the use of drones and the canine unit, and that two villages in the area have been evicted as a precaution.
In the place there have been great retentions, and Ertzaintza is taking the cars off the highway by the national road, by Ermua, to those who go in the direction of San Sebastián and by Eibar in the direction of Bilbao. They have also begun to be taken out of Durango to try to minimize queues.
