The Civil Guard investigates a cattle rancher in the region of Los Monegros, in Huesca, as the alleged author of a crime of animal abuse, since in his farm dying sheep by starvation and lambs of few months that also suffered from lack of food have been found.
As a result of inspections of farms and livestock farms carried out by the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of Huesca, in early December several agents appeared in a sheep and goat farm in the region of Los Monegros and during its inspection found several sheep and lambs, in a state of starvation and some of them dying. The animals were locked, without food or water and in the open despite the low temperatures that occur during the night, have reported sources of the armed institute in a statement.
Among the live animals were located twelve who were dead, whereas in a container located on the outside of the farm, more than one Thirty copies in a state of decomposition and with symptoms of having died due to lack of attention. As a result of this inspection, the owner of the livestock farm provided food and conditioned the places where the animals were found.
Due to these facts, the Seprona of the Civil Guard proceeded to the investigation of the 65-year-old owner, as alleged perpetrator of a crime of animal abuse, by omission by lack of attention, care, malnutrition and absolute lack of health and hygiene of the animals that it has on the farm. The agents notified the Provincial Service of Rural Development and Sustainability of the Government of Aragon in Huesca to coordinate the removal of the corpses of the animals.
The proceedings were delivered in the Juzgado de Instrucción de guardia de Huesca and the farmer was pending a summons before the judicial authority.
