The Galician Federation of associations of users and relatives of residences and dependency centers REDE has filed a complaint with the Superior Prosecutor of Galicia against two senior officials of the Xunta and a civil servant for their management in relation to nursing homes.
The entity assures that the situation in the residences that “ended in the current fatal scenario” due to the coronavirus health crisis was “known and consented to” by the General Directorate for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities and by the Senior Inspection Service and Disabled, whose managers he considers “accomplices”.
Those denounced before the public ministry are the general director of the Elderly and People with Disabilities, Ildefonso de la Campa; the deputy general director of Authorization and Inspection of Social Services, Fernando González, and the head of the Inspection service for the Elderly and Disabled, Berta Besada.
The federation extends its request for investigation to those holding these positions in the last year and a half, in case their management, before and during the pandemic, could constitute the crimes of denial of aid, abandonment, omission of relief and prevarication.
Before this complaint, REDE took the owners and directors of the residences to the Prosecutor’s Office of Galicia, and in another specifically to the managers of the DomusVi group.
