They analyze in Santo Domingo the digitalization and innovation of the regional bank

Experts from the financial and technological sector meet since Thursday in Santo Domingo at the Third Latin American Congress on Digital Banking, Innovation and Technology to address trends, challenges and initiatives of digital banking in the face of accelerated technology growth.

Among the topics to be discussed are digital transformation, technology in the provision of financial services, the world of payments, regulation in the provision of financial services, credit, digital identity and security, as well as user experience in the provision of financial services.

"The rapid technological growth has permeated all sectors of the economy and the provision of financial services is no exception," said the president of the Latin American Congress of Digital Banking, Innovation and Technology, Juan Carlos Arcila Espinosa, in statements to Efe.

"Major technological trends such as 'big data', 'blockchain', APIs or analytics will undoubtedly define the future in this sector," said Arcila Espinosa.

At the same time, he stressed that there are "many new players in the provision of financial services" and that the so-called "fintech" or financial technology "are key players in the changes that are taking place."

He also pointed out that innovation is essential to create new products and improve the quality of service provision in all sectors.

Of course, Arcila Espinosa added, the financial sector "is not the exception".

"Collecting market needs and proposing innovative solutions is paramount for those who want to remain in this industry," he said in his written statements.

The digital transformation is not only the implementation of technology, on the contrary, it requires fundamental changes in processes and changes in the culture of the organization, he said.

He added that when these elements are not taken into account "it is not possible that this process is successful and if it can imply an important loss of resources".

The agenda of the Third Latin American Congress on Digital Banking, Innovation and Technology began with the session "Digital Transformation" which will be followed by other titles entitled "Technology in the provision of financial services" or "The world of payments".

There will also be conferences "Innovation, what to do and what not to do", "User experience in the provision of financial services" or "Regulation in the provision of financial services".

The activity is attended by 200 people of 20 nationalities, according to the organizers.
