It will again exceed 180 euros/MWh this Monday, after rising 12.72%, according to provisional data published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).

Specifically, the average price of the 'pool' on February 21 will be 183.32 euros/MWh, almost 21 euros more than this Sundayof 162.64 euros/MWh.

The increase in prices since the middle of last year in the electricity market is explained, mainly, by the high gas prices in the markets and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rights, at all-time highs.

Thus, compared to just a year ago, the price in the 'pool' for this Monday will be more than 3,133% higher than that of February 21, 2021, a day in which the Spanish paid 5.67 euros/MWh for electricity .
