The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market will rise 4.4% this Tuesday compared to this Monday, up to 270.17 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

This increase, which follows that of this Monday, occurs after the declines of the weekend, coinciding with the drop in demand
and with the end of the heat wave.

This price for PVPC customers is the product of adding the average price of the auction in the wholesale market and the compensation that the demand will pay to the combined cycle plants for the application of the 'Iberian exception' to cap the price of gas for the generation of electricity.

In the auction, the average price of electricity in the wholesale market -the so-called 'pool'- stands at 148.03 euros/MWh for this Monday, which is 9.45 euros less than the price of this Monday (157 .48 euros/MWh), a drop of 6%, according to data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE), collected by Europa Press.

The maximum electricity price for this June 21 will be registered between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., with 180.03 euros/MWh, while the minimum for the day, of 126.36 euros/MWh, will be between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

To this pool price is added the
compensation of 122.14 euros to the gas companies
, compared to 109.36 euros on Monday. This compensation must be paid by the consumers who benefit from the measure, the consumers of the regulated rate (PVPC) or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed rate.

5.6% less than without applying the measure

In the absence of the 'Iberian exception' mechanism to cap the price of gas for electricity generation, the price of electricity in Spain would have been an average of around 286 euros/MWh, which is around 16 euros/MWh more than with compensation for regulated rate customers, who will thus pay 5.6% less on average.
