The average price of electricity in the wholesale market will rise 21.09% this Monday compared to this Sunday, thus breaking several days in which it was below 200 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

Specifically, the average price of the 'pool' for this Monday is 208.74 euros/MWh, which is 36 euros more than the 172.39 average of this Sunday, according to data published by the Iberian Market Operator of Energy (OMIE) and collected by Europa Press.

Peak and off-peak hoursThe cheapest: from 3:00 to 4:00 at €0.24927/kWh€/kWhThe most expensive: from 9:00 to 10:00 at €0.37148/kWh€/kWh

Compared to a year ago, the average price of electricity for this Monday will be 1,882% more expensive than the 10.53 euros/MWh of May 9, 2021.

The prices of the 'pool' have a direct impact on the regulated rate --the so-called PVPC--, to which almost 11 million households in the country are covered, and serve as a reference for the other 17 million who have contracted their supply in the free market.
