The average price of electricity in the wholesale market will rise by 8.51% this Tuesday and will stand at 459.4 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) including the cost of the 'pool' and compensation to gas companies, compared to 423.36 euros this Monday, which is the third maximum in the historical series, according to the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Servimedia.
The price of this Tuesday will be the highest since the introduction of the gas cap, surpassing that of last Wednesday, when it stood at 450.85 euros per megawatt hour, and is only below the prices of March 8 and 9 , when 544.98 euros and 472.97 euros were recorded, respectively.
The price of the 'pool' will remain at 201.96 euros, the highest since the gas cap mechanism was introduced and 7.19% higher than the 188.42 euros of this Monday. The most expensive time will be between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when the price will rise to 237.00 euros, while the cheapest will be between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 160 euros.
For its part, the amount of gas compensation will rise by 9.58% and will mark 257.44 euros, the second highest since its introduction and only below the price of last Wednesday, when it rose to 263.9 euros per megawatt hour.

In short, the 459.4 euros per MWh that will be registered this Tuesday represent a rise of 20.2% compared to the 382.19 euros of Tuesday of last week. Likewise, it is 95.73% higher than that of a month ago, July 30 (234.71 euros).
In a year-on-year comparison, this Tuesday there will be a rise of 269%, since on August 30 of last year the price was 124.45 euros per MWh.
