These are the cheapest hours of electricity for this Saturday, September 3

The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market will chain its third day of falls this Saturday, with a decrease of 19.4% compared to this Friday, to 302.78 euros per megawatt hour (MWh ), its lowest level since last August 22, according to provisional data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Europa Press.

This price is the result of adding the average of the auction in the wholesale market to the compensation that the demand will pay to the combined cycle plants for the application of the 'Iberian exception' to cover the price of gas for electricity generation.

In this way, the price continues to move away from the maximum levels of the beginning of the week, when last Wednesday it reached an average of 476.39 euros/MWh, the highest value since the entry into force of the 'Iberian exception' and the second highest price in history for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market, only behind the record of 544.98 euros/MWh registered on March 8, before the application of the 'gas cap'.

In the auction, the average price of electricity in the wholesale market - the so-called 'pool' - stands for this Saturday at 119.22 euros/MWh. The maximum price will be registered between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with 206.8 euros/MWh, while the minimum for the day, of 23.77 euros/MWh, will be between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

To this price of the 'pool' is added the compensation of 183.56 euros/MWh to the gas companies that has to be paid by the consumers who benefit from the measure, the consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being in the free market, they have an indexed rate.

This drop in the price of electricity in recent days has come hand in hand with a drop in the price of natural gas. In fact, October gas contracts in the Dutch TTF market were trading this Friday at 211 euros/MWh, with a drop of more than 12%, given the expectation of the reactivation of the flow of the Nordsteam I gas pipeline this Saturday.
