Despite the fact that in June several
periods with valley, flat and peak prices
, this reality changed with urgent measures to mitigate the impact of the price escalation of natural gas in the gas and electricity retail markets.

The decree-law promoted by the Government includes the fall in the income of nuclear, hydraulic and some renewables, the temporary reduction of the special tax on electricity from 5.11 to 0.5% and the reduction until the end of the year by a 90% of the electrical system charges. All of this caused the sections established in the beginning will blow up. A
new mess on the electricity bill
That forces consumers to adapt again.

Why is the price of electricity going up?

So far this month of November, the price of electricity in the wholesale market has registered an average of € 188.7 / MWh, about 11 less than the € 200 / MWh in which October closed, although it multiplies by more than four € 41.94 / MWh for the month of November 2020.

This increase has two main causes: high gas prices in the markets and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rights, which are at all-time highs this year.

After starting a month of November down with respect to October, the price of electricity in the wholesale market has tightened again since last week due to the increase in the price of natural gas mainly due to Germany's decision to suspend the certification of the 'Nord Stream 2' gas pipeline, intended to carry gas from Russia to other parts of Europe via the Baltic Sea.

Also, this week three stand
nuclear power plants
(Almaraz, Cofrentes and Ascó I) for refueling and maintenance work.
