Four of the ten best players in the world and the best athletes in the Spanish ranking have confirmed their participation in the ITF Beachtennis Gran Canaria Final 2020 Tournament that includes two scoring tournaments and closes the world circuit.
The presence of top international players ensures the spectacle on the courts that will be installed in the Playa Grande area (in front of the Cristina hotel) during the last week of the year, while sending a message of sun, beach, sport, healthy life and health security from the Canary Islands to the rest of the planet.
The public next to the tracks will have capacity restrictions due to current security measures, but the most important matches can be followed live by streaming from anywhere in the world.
The event is organized by ApPROBA Tennis Playa and sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria -which includes it in its initiative Gran Canaria Isla Europea del Deporte-, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Royal Spanish Federation of Tennis, the Gran Canaria Tennis Federation and commercial firms. The Gran Canaria Antomi Ramos, current world number 4, world champion of Beach Sports and 2018 World Champion, will play in Las Canteras with his regular partner, the Catalan Gerard Rodríguez, world number 10. Antomi Ramos has won the Spanish championship 10 times, five of them with Gerard Rodríguez.
While waiting for more registrations, the Italians Michele Cappelleti, currently world number 2 and four times world champion, and Tommaso Giovannini, number 5 in the ITF ranking (International Tennis Federation), have already confirmed their presence. ).
Among the other top-level athletes who close the year in Gran Canaria, we must mention the current champions of Spain in the female category: the Canarian Omayra Farías and the Catalan Eva Fernández.
The registration list remains open until mid-December. It is estimated that athletes of between 15 and 20 nationalities will participate, as well as a large group of players from the Canarian archipelago, where the sport has a large number of followers.
The elite of the world, national and Canarian beachtennis meet at Las Canteras beach, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, between December 27 and 31 to play two tournaments.
The first is an ITF BT 50, takes place on December 27 and 28, distributes $ 4,000 in prizes and includes the female and male doubles and mixed absolute categories.
The second tournament is the most important in international beach tennis in this complicated 2020, it is played in Las Canteras between December 28 and 31, distributes prizes worth $ 10,000 and is an ITF BT100.
The prizes will have the same amount for the feminine and masculine categories.
