'The Witcher' completes its first week - The Province
The series 'The Witcher', production of the platform Netflix, has completed during the week the bulk of the filming plan on the island. Agaete, Valsequillo, Tejeda and Maspalomas have been some of the scenarios of a film that includes two weeks of work in Gran Canaria.
The filming of the series The Witcher, a production of Netflix, started on Monday in Gran Canaria with a work plan on the Island estimated in two weeks, according to the producer Sur Films, a film company that has been involved in international projects that have found accommodation and logistics in the Canary Islands in recent years.
The Witcher team, TV adaptation of the fantasy literature saga of Andrezj Sapkowski, whose popularity has favored a trilogy of video games, has covered the first week of filming with an agenda in which there has been little rest. The area of Guayedra, in Agaete, Valsequillo, the surroundings of the Roque Nublo, in the grancanaria summit, and the Dunes of Maspalomas, have been the different scenarios used by the technical and artistic team.
Directed by the Pole Tomek Baginski, and with a cast that has the British actor Henry Cavill, the Superman in various films, such as Batman Vs Superman or The League of Justice, among others, in The Witcher becomes a hunter of monsters named Geralt de Rivia. The actresses Anna Shaffer, MyAnna Buring and Anya Charlotra, complete the main character of this series.
Henry Cavill himself gave an account of his stay on the island last Thursday, in his Instagram account, highlighting the "wonderful views" of the summit, where he could be seen training for a career that has in agenda in Jersey in the month of May.
With a forecast of eight episodes and release date after the summer, the series began shooting in the city of Budapest in October last year. In Gran Canaria, it is planned to move back to the surroundings of Guayedra, once the work plan drawn up on the island has been completed, transfer the filming to the island of La Palma, where it will remain for another two weeks. In the initial filming forecasts, it was counted on stepping on La Gomera although it has been postponed for reasons unrelated to the production team.
