The VTC claim 166 million euros to the Generalitat Valenciana

Unauto, the most representative employer in the sector of transport vehicles with driver (VTC), has announced that it will claim compensation in the courts for a value of 166 million euros if the Valencian Community approves the decree that would limit its activity in the region. "If the rights of the sector are damaged through any type of restrictive regulation, we will defend them by resorting to all the necessary legal means, as we are doing in Catalonia," warns Unauto in a letter sent to Valencian President Ximo Puig. In the letter, the employer has requested that restrictive measures are not adopted until the doubts of constitutionality and competence of the royal decree-law approved by the central government are resolved.

The Ministry of Public Works on Thursday sent a draft of the decree that will regulate the VTC in Valencia to the affected parties, who have a period of ten days to present allegations. ANDThe draft includes restrictions such as minimum 15-minute pre-contract period, that the municipalities can expand if they consider it necessary (Valencia has already confirmed its "will" to establish a time limit of one hour), as well as the prohibition of attracting customers on public roads and geolocation. The association says that the sector employs 500 workers in the region, but estimates that throughout this year the figure will reach 2,000 people "if there are no obstacles that prevent it."

In the petition, Unauto also requests to hold a meeting with the administration "as soon as possible" to convey the concerns of the sector and raise "possible solutions" to arrive at a model of sustainable mobility "beneficial and safe" for citizens. The employers state that the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) and the regional competition authorities remind that all the measures adopted must respect the principles of necessity, proportionality and non-discrimination.
