The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, asked this Friday, during the celebration of the XXV Forum in Sao Paulo, to the left "self-confused" support for his country, after highlighting that the "enemy" is "American imperialism."
During his speech at a conference in which government representatives denounced the US blockade. to his country, Arreaza indicated that former President Hugo Chavez (1999-2013) said: "When you have a doubt, ask yourself who the enemy is, and if the enemy is imperialism in the worst of its expressions, we cannot have doubts, we have to support Venezuela. "
The chancellor asked that this message be for that "self-confused left, that left they call ligth, social democrat."
Arreaza stressed that, despite what he called the US blockade, the Executive continues to maintain social programs.
He also advocated the establishment of a common agenda among all leftist movements, for education, culture and services of society.
"Venezuela is a blocked country, attacked," he said while pointing out that "for 20 years, every day, every hour, every minute, we have a US intervention in Venezuela."
He insisted that Venezuela has applied all the "aggression" formulas and indicated that the sanctions against the Government of Nicolás Maduro affect the purchase of food and medicines by the State.
"It's not just that we have 7,000 million dollars in cash or in blocked gold, (…) we can't just use the financial system, if I wanted to buy, the Government, the State, milk in Uruguay, (…) we cannot. Moreover, we have a debt with a cooperative in Uruguay that we cannot honor, "he added without offering details.
The Sao Paulo Forum is a mechanism for the coordination of political formations and social movements of the left and progressives of Latin America and the Caribbean, which emerged in 1990 under the auspices of the Workers Party (PT) of Brazil.
As reported by the Forum's website, around 500 international delegates from the movements of the left participate in the event that will run until Sunday at the Alba Caracas hotel.
Forum attendees debate the consequences of "advances in imperialism" in the world and support for political dialogue in Venezuela, as well as solidarity with one of its founders, former Brazilian prisoner Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, among others.
