The US envoy resigns for the coalition against the EI, according to the CBS

The US special envoy For the coalition against the Islamic State (EI), Brett McGurk, presented Friday his resignation in protest over the decision of the White House to withdraw US troops in Syria, according to CBS.

McGurk had planned to leave his post in February 2019, but on Friday he told the State Department that he wanted to accelerate his exit from the Administration, detailed the CBS.

McGurk's resignation follows the resignation this week of General James Mattis as US Secretary of Defense.
